“Herein is my Father glorified that you bear much fruit”. (John 15:5)
The global church has gone through a season of barrenness in many parts of the world but that does not change God’s purpose for the church, His church.
Isaiah 54 starts with “Sing, barren woman, you who never bore a child; burst into song, shout for joy, you who were never in labour; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband,” says the Lord.
It continues in verse 2, “Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes.”
We can sing when we have an awareness of what God is doing. Here is the true partnership: we do the possible, He does the impossible. It is the prophetic word that helps us to lay hold of the promises of God. When we are in step with Him, nothing can stop us.
In verse 7-8 it says “For a brief moment I abandoned you, but with deep compassion I will bring you back. In a surge of anger I hid my face from you for a moment, but with everlasting kindness I will have compassion on you,” says the Lord your Redeemer.
Rebecca, the wife of Isaac is a type of the Church and Christ our Redeemer. In chapter 24 of Genesis we read that Rebecca was the chosen bride of Isaac. When she chose to go with Eliezer, her family blessed her “And they blessed Rebecca and said to her, we are your sister, be the mother of thousands of ten thousands, and let your seed possess the gate of those who hate them”.
After many years of marriage to Isaac, Rebekah had still not given birth to a child and was barren. Isaac prayed for her and she conceived and gave birth to twin boys, Esau and Jacob.
When we read the promise given to Rebecca by her family, we should experience the anointing and presence of the Lord. Let us say this blessing over ourselves again and again as a church: “be the mother of thousands of ten thousands.”
Believe that the grace of fruitfulness is released over you and the life of the church. May you have great increase as you experience the things that God has prepared for you. In this is the Father glorified, that we bear much fruit.
